5 - 9 AUG MORNING MASTER CLASSES 09:30 - 11:30
Julie will take you on a journey of spirals, waves, pulses, expansion and contraction, breath and awareness, moving and stillness. Yoga is a process of unfolding, letting go of layers and remaining curious to all the possibilities. Julie encourages students to find their own pace, fluidity and strength in a structure that is only a "suggestion". She no longer asks people to get "into" a pose, but if stillness arises in a moment then space and time is given for you to pause, feel and sense. Moving on only when you are ready, moving with the body not against it.
Julie will explore a different theme each day during the week. Some yoga experience preferred.
Morning classes are included in the Workshop Intensive as well as Fluid Body, Fluid Mind (for all practitioners) and Intelligent Adjustments, Natural Alignment (for teachers). For example, when registering for Fluid Body, Fluid Mind morning classes between 5 - 6 AUG are included.
PRICE: 300 SEK (250 SEK members ) / CLASS
5 - 6 AUG FLUID BODY, FLUID MIND - FOR ALL PRACTIONERS 13:00 - 16:00
Our thoughts and emotions are contained at a cellular level everywhere in our body. Through a movement practice we are accessing these cells regularly, but what are we telling them? Modern cellular biology as well as research in quantum physics shows us that how we think and feel about ourselves and our lives has direct effect on what happens in our bodies.
Taking a further step into Julie’s world of exploration we will be experimenting with movement as meditation and look at how what arises has opportunity to change, physically and emotionally based on our sense and experience of it.
Working with movement and stillness exercises as well as asking questions of ourselves that allow us to delve deeper into the spiritual practices of yoga through the vehicle of the body. Please bring a notebook with you.
PRICE: 1900 SEK
7 - 9 AUG INTELLIGENT ADJUSTMENTS, NATURAL ALIGNMENT - FOR TEACHERS 13:00 16:30
The information on adjusting bodies and guiding alignment is in constant flux in the yoga world. And for a good reason, both have been the source of many injuries over the last 20 years. This makes it hard to know how to proceed as teachers with such diverse instructions and reactions from “authorities” and students alike.
Julie Martin’s approach is to work with bodies through a “felt sense” of what is happening internally. To “listen” to bodies instead of just seeing. We often make basic mistakes by thinking someone is “out of alignment” with just visuals. However, by sensing and taking in greater options of what a shape should really be for individuals we aid in a persons practice instead of dictating restrictions on poses.
Touch is a very healing medium and a silent form of communication that is often lost in many classes due to uncertainty on the teachers part so we will focus on gaining confidence as well as technique. Teacher safety and student trust is vital and these aspects will be covered. We will shift our perception of “alignment” and instead look at “lines of movement” and “areas of restriction”. We allow space to unfold and let the body own the practice, not the teacher.
