Jo is from England, although she has lived and traveled around the world since her mid 20’s as a language teacher. Within this movement, the true journey was revealed as the inner path! Jo is rooted in an ashtanga foundation and recently completed intensive training with Richard Freeman as well as her initial Brahmani 500 hour foundation. Jo has studied iyengar, yin, hatha, vinyasa flow, swasthya, jivamukti, acro and kids yoga with a huge range of inspiring yoga teachers giving her a broad, non-dogmatic and open-minded approach to the art of union.
As a philosophy graduate, Jo underpins her classes with deep roots and hopes to inspire others to seek yoga as a chance to reconnect in every possible sense to mind, body and spirit. Jo embraces the Brahmani approach to yoga as awareness where yoga evolves as a practice of compassion, non-attachment and devotion. Her approach to yoga is both intense and serious as well as light and humorous and includes pranayama, a focus on the yoga of sound (chanting) and meditation (the ultimate end point of all yoga practices).
Jo has taught ashtanga, vinyasa flow, yin yoga and kids yoga since 2010 and now works as a full time yoga freelancer in Dubai where she lives with her Argentinian filmmaker husband. Jo balances a yoga lifestyle with an eclectic interest in all aspects of culture, including modern art, film, poetry, theatre, music, gastronomy, craft, fashion, design and philosophy. She has a long term ambition to complete a Phd in Yoga and Cultural Studies when the time is right.
