Dynamic Yoga
Mondays, 5:00 pmThis class links the postures practiced in a regular asana class together in a "flow", creating a more dynamic class, emphasizing movement with breath and alignment of mind and body. This class is suitable for all levels and will be taught by Anna Smallwood throughout the season.
Restorative Yoga
Wednesday 5.30 pmSuitable for all levels of ability. The asanas in this class will focus on restorative postures and relaxation. Simple exercises and postures to help in self awareness, strengthening and relaxing our body, relieving stress and bringing healing to the body, mind and self. Gentle, yet of immense benefit to all. There will be guided relaxation that will help us feel the importance of true, deep relaxation to our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. This class will be led by Helen Noakes.
Iyengar Style
Thursdays, 5:00 pmIyengar yoga asana classes involve detailed attention to how poses are performed. Can be dynamic and in general the poses are held for longer to allow the energy to flow correctly throughout the body, that the body is in the pose correctly and thus safely. It is an intelligent approach to yoga asana and this method can be put into place with any style of yoga.
Props and equipment are used which allows the practitioner to experience the benefits of a pose even if they cannot do it.
Regular practice develops strength, stability, flexibility and brings a deep sense of well-being. Suitable for all levels.
Kundalini Yoga
Fridays, 5:00 pm"Kundalini yoga classes are a dynamic blend of postures, pranayama, mantra, music and meditation, which teach you the art of relaxation, self-healing and elevation. Balancing body and mind enables you to experience the clarity and beauty of your soul." Yogi Bhajan.
Kundalini Yoga has thousands of different yoga sets which target different areas of your well-being, so each class is different. Sometimes we do yoga to work on our digestion, for detox, to focus our mental ability, to awaken our heart chakra or strengthen our aura. A Kundalini practice can create an awareness of our whole physical, mental, emotional and spiritual being. Kundalini Yoga is a mirror - it will reflect your true self. It's time to polish that mirror and listen to the Divine within. This class will be led by Viriam Kaur.
Pranayama Meditation
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays, 5.30 pmThis class is a favourite of all the Brahmani Yoga teachers as well as visiting students. It starts with 20 minutes of asanas and leads into pranayama exercises with meditation and some kriya work. The class will be led by Julie Martin and Melanie Cooper, both long term students of Emil's who will teach the same style.
